The MP was among a group of Ugandans that took
to the streets this morning to protest the mobile
money and social media taxes.
The MP managed to enter Parliament’s precincts,
Earlier, police fired teargas to break up the crowd.
Other protestors included singer A Pass and
journalist Raymond Mujuni.
As part of the #ThisTaxMustGo campaign, the
protestors were dressed in red with some holding
banners urging the authorities to scrap the tax.
The Parliament through the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has pushed the hearing for tomorrow expected to debate the two taxes
which have been widely criticized as disruptive.
The Parliament has reconvened today from recess.
